Dear Earthlings,
I sent the letter inside the asterisk *** strings (below), to the Community Mental Health Clinic, here in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The Clinic has hosted a support group for people like me with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) for many years, but will no longer be hosting it due to restructuring of the clinic's services. I've been a member of the OCD support group for the past few years, and it has been an immense help to me. I will really miss our meetings.

Dear Community Mental Health Clinic,
Over the past few years, the OCD support group has been a tremendous blessing to me, and I was rather upset when informed of the group's demise. Ontario's provincial government may think that there are more efficient ways of spending my money, but I depend on this service and was so happy to be in a nation that offered so much to me as a mental health patient. Now, apparently some bean counters in Toronto think that the OCD support group does not benefit me. Well those bean counters are wrong. They don't know me, and I don't know them. But I do know this OCD support group, and they know me, and I know I need this group to continue with a facilitator, here, at the clinic.
Thanks for so many good things you've done for me over the years. I know that through the OCD Support Group, not just I have been helped, but I have been able to help other OCD patients through the excellent format the experts in efficiency are so intent on destroying. Let's keep working together to make Guelph a great place for mental health patients. Please do not disband the group. Thanks.

Dear Earthlings,
I used to live in Duanesburg, New York, a beautiful countryside neighbourhood, surrounded by hilly terrain which is magnificent in autumn. Duanesburg is not far from Schenectady and Albany. Even if you don't see the name on your map, Duanesburg is easy to find. Downtown Duanesburg "is" the intersection of Routes 7 and 20. You can't miss Duanesburg's "one" set of stop lights.
Anyway, I had a friend in Duanesburg who was a skydiver...yes, a skydiver. Skydiving is big in Duanesburg. In the warmer months, I would often see people in parachutes plummeting toward earth. The skydiving club headquartered itself at Duanesburg's little airport. My skydiver friend told me once about Duanesburg's close encounters with Harrison Ford. She wished she had been there, at his visits, to meet him; but it's still a great story.
Besides being a superstar actor, Harrison Ford is also a pilot, and, as a pilot, he was at Duanesburg's small airport. He ate at a restaurant in Duanesburg called "Jonathan's Pizza"--no relation to me, but still a nice name. Anyway, a year later he arrived back at the Duanesburg Airport and ate, once again, at Jonathan's Pizza. When he went into the restaurant, he noticed something very strange. They had mounted his plate and eating utensils from his last visit onto their wall. His response was to ask if there were anywhere else in town that he could eat.

Whee! I'm nearing the crest of the photographic rollercoaster!
One never stops learning. I'm glad. In our fallen, sinful state, if we knew everything, we would be bored out of our skulls, and absolute knowledge would lead to depravities not even yet conceived of. Of course, absolute knowledge could also lead to unfathomable goodness; however, we are not perfect. So, I'm glad God is the only one with absolute knowledge, because he is the blueprint for goodness, in which no evil is possible. Oh, that we would become perfect imitators of him, "as dearly loved children." I forget the Scripture reference and am too lazy to look it up. There's a perfect example of my imperfection.

I've been obsessively practicing Rubik's Cube (http://rubiks.com) over the past month. I just broke the two minute barrier last night, solving the cube in 1 min, 57 sec. When timing myself, I usually take around 2 min, 30 sec. As long as I can keep it under 3 minutes, I'm happy, and I usually do.
I've got a long way to go though before I break the world record, currently 0 min, 11.75 sec.
In my early teens, my best cube solving time was 1 min, 30 sec. At age 14, I was even in one of the official Rubik's Cube competitions, where I received a certificate from Ideal Toy Corporation, conferring upon me "the distinguished title of CUBIST with all the rights, privileges, honors and immunities thereunto appertaining."
I just bought the Rubik's Professor Cube for a new challenge. Solving the regular 3 x 3 Rubik's Cube has gotten too easy, so now I'm hoping to conquer the Rubik's Professor Cube which is a 5 x 5 cube. I'm making progress, but haven't solved it yet. I'm not worried about how long it takes me. It's not meant for speed cubing anyway. It's a more complex construction. Moving it too fast could cause it to explode.
